Joint Press Release – 6th Singapore‑China Forum on Leadership
OFFICIAL VISIT TO SINGAPORE BY MR ZHAO LEJI, MEMBER OF THE POLITICAL BUREAU AND MINISTER OF THE ORGANISATION DEPARTMENT OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA (CPC) CENTRAL COMMITTEE, 15 TO 17 MAY 2017
Member of the Political Bureau and Minister of the Organisation Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Mr Zhao Leji will visit Singapore from 15 to 17 May 2017, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister-in-charge of the Civil Service Mr Teo Chee Hean.
On 16 May, DPM Teo and Minister Zhao will co-chair the 6th Singapore-China Forum on Leadership themed “Leadership Development for National Innovation (国家全面创新中的领导力建设)”, as well as deliver the keynote addresses at the Forum. DPM Teo will host Minister Zhao and his delegation to a welcome dinner. First hosted by China in 2009, the Forum on Leadership is a strategic platform for political leaders and senior officials of Singapore and China to discuss and exchange experiences on common challenges related to leadership development. DPM Teo and Minister Zhao co-chaired the 5th Forum on Leadership in Jinggangshan, Jiangxi Province, China, in April 2015.
While in Singapore, Minister Zhao will also call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and be hosted to lunch by Emeritus Senior Minister and Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) Mr Goh Chok Tong. Minister Zhao and his delegation will also visit the LKYSPP to better understand Singapore’s training programmes on human resource development.
Minister Zhao will be accompanied by Secretary of the CPC Leading Group and Vice Minister of Science and Technology Mr Wang Zhigang; Vice Minister of the Organisation Department of the CPC Central Committee Mr Gao Xuanmin; Vice Minister of the CPC International Department Mr Zheng Xiaosong; Vice Minister of the Central Policy Research Office, CPC Central Committee (Office of Central Leading Group for Deepening Overall Reform) Mr Zhang Ji; Vice President of the CPC Central Party School Mr Zhen Zhanmin; Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Mr Wu Daohuai; Secretary-General of the Organisation Department of the CPC Central Committee Mr Zang Anmin; as well as senior Chinese officials.
The Singapore delegation, led by DPM Teo, includes Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence Mr Ong Ye Kung; Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Manpower and Foreign Affairs Mrs Josephine Teo; Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and Trade and Industry Ms Sim Ann; Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and Health Mr Chee Hong Tat; Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development Dr Koh Poh Koon; Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and Education Dr Janil Puthucheary; Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Industry and Education Ms Low Yen Ling; Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs and Health Mr Amrin Amin; Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth Mr Baey Yam Keng; and Member of Parliament Ms Sun Xueling, as well as senior government officials from Ministries and statutory boards.
