MG(NS) Ng Chee Khern to relinquish second Permanent Secretary (Health) appointment
Ng Chee Khern (黄志勤), PS(Defence Development), will relinquish his concurrent appointment as 2PS(Health) with effect from 1 March 2016. MG(NS) Ng has held this concurrent appointment in the Ministry of Health (MOH) since August 2014.
MG(NS) Ng will focus on steering the critical development of a long-term defence technology masterplan, and helping to formulate a strategic plan for the next phase of the SAF’s transformation. MG(NS) Ng will also be assuming Chairmanship of a planning committee to steer the establishment of the new Government Technology Organisation, which will be formed in the second half of 2016 following the restructuring of Infocomm Development Authority and Media Development Authority.
During his stint with MOH, MG(NS) Ng has made significant contributions in the areas of long-term planning and the use of technology in public healthcare.
MG(NS) Ng joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1984 on being awarded a President’s cum SAF (Overseas) Scholarship. He held various command and staff appointments in the course of his military career, including Director Joint Operations Department and Chief of Staff HQ RSAF. He was the Chief of Air Force from March 2006 to December 2009 and Director, Security and Intelligence Division, Ministry of Defence from September 2010 to April 2014. MG(NS) Ng was appointed Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) in May 2014.
