Visit by Mr Chan Chun Sing to the People’s Republic of China, 10 to 13 September 2023
VISIT BY MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND MINISTER-IN-CHARGE OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE CHAN CHUN SING TO THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, 10 TO 13 SEPTEMBER 2023
Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of the Public Service Chan Chun Sing will visit the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from 10 to 13 September 2023. Minister Chan will co-chair the 9th Singapore-China Forum on Leadership with Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and CPC Central Committee Organisation Department Minister Li Ganjie on 12 September 2023 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, China.
2 First held in 2009, the Singapore-China Forum on Leadership is a strategic platform for political leaders and senior officials from Singapore and China to discuss and exchange experiences on common challenges related to leadership development.
3 This year, the Forum will be held in-person for the first time following the COVID-19 pandemic. Themed ‘Evolving Leadership in a Modern World’, the Forum will also include discussions on three other sub-themes: i) Organising for Resilience and High Quality Growth; ii) Building Trust and Communicating in a New Media Environment; and iii) Selecting and Developing High Quality Talent for Cohesive Leadership Teams. Minister Chan and Minister Li will deliver keynote addresses at the Forum. Minister Chan will also have a bilateral meeting with, and be hosted to a welcome banquet by Minister Li.
4 During the visit, Minister Chan and the Singapore delegation will visit the CPC Central Committee Party School (National Academy of Governance) and meet Party School Executive Vice President Xie Chuntao. They will also visit the Xiong’An New Area in Hebei Province to learn about China’s regional development strategy.
5 The Singapore delegation will be led by Minister Chan and will include Minister for Communications and Information and Second Minister for Home Affairs Josephine Teo, who will also deliver a plenary address at the Forum. The other members of the delegation will be Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information & National Development Tan Kiat How; Minister of State for National Development & Home Affairs Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim; Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Desmond Tan; Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth & Social and Family Development Eric Chua; as well as senior government officials from the relevant Ministries and agencies.
